Blow-Dry Tips- Achieving Volume & Shine
Filming this tutorial at home during lockdown came with its own surprises — like my five-year-old needing the only bathroom mid-video.
But that’s life. Even between interruptions, great hair (and confidence) are always within reach.
MASTER THE ART OF A SMOOTH, VOLUMINOUS BLOWOUT
• Prep:
Start with freshly washed hair. Apply a heat protectant like J Beverly Hills 5-in-1 or Everyday Spray.
• Tools:
Use a dryer with a nozzle and a round brush — my favorites are the J Beverly Hills Ceramic Wire brush or a Mason Pearson for smoothing.
• Technique:
Aim the nozzle down the hair shaft to smooth, then lift at the roots for volume.
• Pro Tip:
Slightly tilt your brush at the roots — it adds lift without teasing.
• Finish:
Seal with cool air, then add Revive Oil for shine or Hold Me Lite for flexible hold.
We hit pause when real life called — then picked right back up, just like in the salon.
The truth is, perfection isn’t the goal. The goal is movement, confidence, and shine that lasts all week.
The finished result — soft volume, lived-in movement, and effortless shine.
STAYING CONNECTED
During the pandemic, I sent color kits to my guests and filmed these videos to help them feel confident caring for their hair.
Teaching through chaos — that’s the magic of connection. Whether it’s behind the chair or through a screen, my goal is the same: to help you love your hair, your reflection, and yourself a little more.
Even a simple blowout can remind you that beauty lives in the everyday.
